A quick note from the Squadron Sponsoring Committee

Hello Cadets and Cadet Families!

As you know, we are back to in-person training and are planning a lot of great activities and training events in the months to come, leading up to our first in-person Ceremonial Review Parade since 2019!

To accomplish our goals of providing the best program possible for the cadets, we need to raise money.

To that end, there are a few key opportunities right now, to help the Squadron achieve our goals.  Information sheets where sent home with each Cadet on Wednesday, but the details are below as well!

The Air Cadet League Lottery!

Every year, we are tasked by the Air Cadet League, Ontario Committee to sell a specific number of lottery tickets.  The money raised by the lottery is divided between the Provincial Committee (used to fund the glider program, which is returning this year) and our local 87 Eagle Squadron.  We have a goal of 300 tickets this year, which is 8-10 tickets per cadet.  Full details are attached with a poster you can pass around to friends, family, neighbours, get creative!  Us the website link https://aircadetlotto.5050central.com/?olc=87 to purchase tickets on line!

The Big Box of Bacon – Orders Due March 31

Through out the past two years, our Committee Chair, Rob Foster, has run a series of Bacon and Pepperoni sales, which have kept the Squadron running.  While we were on in-person stand down, there were still significant costs to maintain the Cadet Hall and keep the program running.  With a return to in-person training, those cost will definitely increase.  Fundraisers, like the Bacon and Pepperoni sales, have been a significant source of income for the Squadron.  Please see the attached forms for the Bacon orders (not just bacon—the chicken tenders are fantastic; peameal bacon or breakfast sausage are great for weekend brunches, and I have it on good authority that the chicken wings are the best around; so lots of options), and drive-through pick up in the Canadian Tire Service Centre makes getting your order simple!  Order goes in March 31, so get those orders in as soon as possible!

Other fundraising ideas or opportunities?

As a parent/guardian of a cadet, you are part of the SSC, the Squadron Sponsoring Committee.  Please reach out to any of the board members with ideas for fundraisers, ideas for training activities for the cadets, or just to have a chat.  While entry to the hall is still partially limited, there is lots of space outside the hall, to have a chat and get to know one another.  So please, if you have a chance, park the car, and come say hi!  We are always looking for ideas and help to keep the best possible experience for all cadets!  Many hands makes light work!

See you soon,
