CAF Familiarization Day at CFB Borden – April 21

All cadets;

Our Squadron will be going to Canadian Forces Base Borden for the day. We will be taking a bus from Welland and returning the same day. There will be no cost to this trip.

We are hoping for maximum participation in this exciting opportunity to tour some of the base facilities and play some sports.

Tentative timing: 0700–1800 hrs.

A special thank you to all Cadets, Officers and parents that participated in our Easter weekend tagging event.

It is amazing what we can achieve when we work together. Together we raised over $22,500.00. ­

With Tagging behind us, we need to switch gears to focus on our next fundraising event. We will be holding a Purse Bingo on April 26, 2024 at the Welland Legion. Tickets for this event are SOLD OUT.

We still need your help to make this event a success.

Volunteers needed to:

Donate bake goods for our Bake Table. Donated bake goods can be sent with your cadet on Wednesday April 24, 2024.

Donate an item for our Penny Sale Table

Tagging Reminders

Please ensure you bring your cadet parka (if you don’t have one a civilian winter jacket is fine), hat and gloves for tagging.

We are still in need of cadets for tagging on Saturday afternoon 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. If you have not signed up for your three shifts, please speak to the Parents Sponsoring Committee about adding your name to the list.

Remember – if you have signed up for a shift, you are expected to attend. If you are no longer able to attend please complete the “report an absence” form on the website.

Summer Training

If you are planning to apply for summer training, please do so by completing the form on the post from March 20. Applications will only be accepted until Saturday, March 30.

Reminder – Level 2 to 5 Range Aviation Weekend

Drop Off at Cadet Hall – 8:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23

Pick Up – Sunday, March 24 12:00 p.m.

Don’t forget to bring a lunch for tomorrow, health card, permission slip, and water bottle. Dress is Field Training Uniform or appropriate civilian attire if you have not been issued FTUs. All other kit is on the kit list on the post from Wednesday. Some activities will be outdoors so a hat, gloves and warm jacket are required.

Tagging Information from the Parent Sponsoring Committee

Our home base for tagging is the Seaway Mall (Front Entrance).  A cadet is normally stationed at this entrance to direct you to the base office which is located on the second floor above the main entrance. Officers and Civilian Volunteers will be on call as well during the activity.

Tagging Dates and Times:

Wednesday March 27, 2024 (5 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. approximately)

  • If your cadet has never tagged before he or she will be stationed at the Seaway Mall.  Pick up time for these cadets only will be 8:00 p.m.

   Thursday March 28, 2024 (5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. approximately)

  • If your cadet has never tagged before he or she will be stationed at the Seaway Mall.  Pick up time for these cadets only will be 8:00 p.m.

Saturday March 30, 2024 (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

  • If your cadet has never tagged before he or she will be stationed at the Seaway Mall.  We ask that these cadets arrive at the Seaway Mall at 9:30 a.m.
  • Lunch will be provided for those cadets who are tagging all day.

Important Note: If you are a Port Colborne resident and your cadet is tagging both Saturday morning and afternoon.  Please see Mrs. Foster on Wednesday or Thursday night for new information.

Parents – What can you do?

  • Review safety rules with your cadet – they are permitted to have their cell phone for emergency use and/or to contact the office.
  • Make sure your cadet has eaten before their tagging shift, and they bring a water bottle to keep hydrated. 
  • Make sure your cadet dresses for the weather. They may wear their cadet issued or civilian winter jacket or toque. Gloves should be black if possible.
  • Check on your cadet routinely during their tagging shift.
  • Please remain with your child until their cadet partner has arrive/left.
