Upcoming Activities: Week of September 12, 2016

A special thank you to those cadets (and parents) who took time out of their busy schedules on Saturday to attend the re-dedication ceremony of the WW1 Cenotaph and unveiling of the refurbished Trench Mortar in front of the Old Pelham Town Hall. The hour or so we spent there in the rain to honour those who fought for us seems to pale in comparison to the sacrifices made by the men and women who fought and died for our country.

Upcoming Activities:

Wednesday, September 14 – Regular Parade Night – summer dress (no tunic, no tie)

Thursday, September 15 – Ground School at our cadet hall 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.

We have been asked to help with parking and traffic duties for the Welland Fair and Food Festival at the Quaker Road entrance to the Sportsplex. We need 3-4 cadets per shift (an adult supervisor will be on-site for each shift). Uniforms required (summer dress with fleece if needed). Your shift can count towards your community service hours. Shifts are as follows:

Friday, September 16 – 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 17 – 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 18 – 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Sign-up sheets will be provided on Wednesday.

Parents: we can also use assistance – if you are able to help, please talk to Mrs. Kalenuik on Wednesday.

Cenotaph Dedication – Saturday, September 10

The Town of Pelham will be holding a dedication ceremony for its cenotaph on Saturday, September 10th at the Old Pelham Town Hall, 491 Canboro Road, Ridgeville. Cadets are to arrive at 10:30 a.m. with the ceremony to start at 11:00 a.m. Dress will be summer dress – no tunic, no tie. After the short ceremony refreshments will be served.

Events like this are an important part of the cadet program and support our aim of promoting citizenship within our community. Looking forward to seeing you there.
