Announcements for the Week of Jan 29

1. Rifle Team Tryouts – Mon Jan 29 (Tonight) @6:30–8:30

Rifle try outs continue tonight between 6:30 and 8:30. No uniforms.

2. Drill Team – Tues Jan 30 @7:00–8:30

Drill team practice tomorrow night. All Drill Team members are expected to attend. Please bring boots and wedge.

3. Sky Zone – Wed Jan 31 @6:15–8:30

This weeks parade night will be at Sky Zone Trampoline Park in St. Catharines! We will be meeting at Sky Zone instead of LHQ. We are providing 2 hour jump tickets and socks for everyone.

No outside food or drink allowed. There is a snack bar there if anyone wants to purchase drinks and snacks.

Location: Sky Zone Trampoline Park (333 Ontario St, St. Catharines, ON L2R 5L3)
Time: Wednesday Jan 31 at 6:15pm to 8:30pm
Dress: Civilian sports gear (No Uniforms!)

Waivers:

Every cadet, regardless of age OR if you’ve been to Sky Zone before, must completely fill out a waiver before check in. If under the age of 18, the jumper must have his/her waiver completed and signed by a parent/legal guardian. To complete a waiver form click here.

Please have waivers completed before you arrive.

4. Our Annual Little Caesers Fundraiser is Here! Get your Pizza and Cookie Dough!

Little Caeser Pizza Kits and Cookie Dough fundraiser is starting. We are asking everyone to sell 3 kits to help us reach our goal.

Reminders for this Week

Drill Team Tonight from 1900-2030hrs

Please bring your boots and wedge. All drill team members are strongly encouraged to attend practice every week until drill competition. If for any reason you can not make the practice please let F/Sgt Kalenuik or CI Silva know.

Regular Parade Night This Week

Remember to work on uniforms this week. Boots and haircuts need work. Take pride in your uniform.

Sports Competition – This Saturday from 0645hrs to 1600hrs

The annual NAG Sports Competition is this Saturday from 0645hrs to 1600hrs. The bus is leaving from 87 LHQ at 0700hrs.

Cadets are to bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Sports attire
  • Running shoes
  • Health card

Niagara Cadet Gala – Saturday February 10th @ 1730hrs (Ticket money DUE TOMORROW)

The annual Niagara Cadet Gala for all Air, Sea, and Army cadets in the Niagara region is on Saturday February 10th! This optional semi-formal activity is organized by the fine officers and staff of 128 Thorold Squadron and is open to all cadets.

The gala will feature live piano music throughout dinner, and a fun masquerade ball theme. This is a great event to meet new cadets from all over Niagara, dress up, eat, and have fun!

Timing: Saturday February 10th @ 1730hrs (end time to be announced)
Location: Lake Street Armoury (81 Lake St, St. Catharines)
Theme: Masquerade Ball
Dress: Semi-Formal with optional, masquerade style masks OR C8 Mess Dress without masks.
Cost: $25/cadet

Tickets are $25/cadet, and due this week.

Announcements for the Week of December 3

Sports & Fitness Night – Tomorrow Night (Dec 6th)

Make sure to wear cadet appropriate physical training wear, running shoes, bring a water bottle, and your health card.

Ice Dog Tickets – Due Tomorrow (Dec 6th)

Last chance to buy Ice Dogs tickets! Make sure to grab tickets for yourself, and your family and friends! It’s going to be a blast!

Santa Clause Parade – Saturday Dec 9th @ 1230hrs

All cadets: We will be parading in Fenwick’s Santa Clause Parade. After the parade there will be snacks and refreshments. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our local community, get the word out about Air Cadets, and have fun as a Squadron! Attendance is HIGHLY encouraged! Let’s look like the strong Squadron we are!

Arrival: 1230hrs
Dismissal: 1430hrs
Dress: C2, winter jacket, gloves
Location: Meet at St. Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1040 Balfour St, Fenwick

Mess Dinner – Wednesday Dec 13 @ 1730 to 2030hrs

This years Christmas Mess Dinner is on Wednesday December 13th from 1730-2030 (5:30-8:30PM). For the new cadets that have never been to a traditional mess:

“A Mess Dinner, originating over 200 years ago, is one of the most coveted and important traditions of the Canadian Forces. It is a time to appreciate the comradeship and company of fellow service members and guests and to savour fine cuisine in an elegant setting. Tradition remains to this day one of the prime ingredients in air cadet esprit de-corps.”

Dress:

  • Sgt’s and above: C8 and no wedge (same as C2, but with black bowtie, white dress shirt under tunic).
  • Everyone else: C2 and no wedge (if you do not have a black bowtie and white dress shirt).
  • Females may wear their hair down and styled.
