Cadet Night’s before summer stand down!

Good evening Cadets and Parents,

This up coming Wednesday 05 June 2024. We are participating in a Road side clean up on Niagara Street. Any parents that are able to help please contact Rob Foster at SSC@87eagle.ca. See details below:

Parent drop off at Scotiabank on 440 Niagara street Welland @ 1830 hrs.

Parent pick up at Boston Pizza on 934 Niagara street, Welland at 2030 hrs.
Make sure to bring your Healthcard, water bottle and dress for the weather. We will have safety vest for all cadets and parents and disposable gloves for all to wear.

Dress for 05 June 2024 is cadet appropriate civilian attire.

Last cadet night on 12 June 2024 will be a fun night where cadets can have an opportunity to play sports or board games. From 1830 hrs to 2100 hrs.

A special thank you to everyone that joined us for our 83rd Annual Ceremonial Review (and being so understanding about the last minute venue change) – it was an overwhelming success and we are very proud of all of our cadets!

Reminder – Special Guest Speaker – Monday, May 27

All Cadets;

We are hosting a special guest speaker night on Monday, May 27th for all cadets. Details as follows:

Awards Night – Wed, May 29th at 1830hrs

Please join us on Wednesday for our Awards Night.

Attendance is mandatory for cadets as this takes place during a normal cadet night.

Timing: 1830-2000hrs (6:30PM to 8:00PM)
Location: Welland Legion, 383 Morningstar Avenue
Food: Light refreshments and cake
Tickets: REQUIRED – Cadets that requested additional tickets last week have had those tickets set aside. There are still ADDITIONAL tickets available. If you would like to request more tickets, please email 87air@cadets.gc.ca NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, MAY 28first come, first serve to have additional tickets set aside for you.

New Location for Annual Tomorrow

All Cadet families;

Due to the weather forecast (possible thunderstorms), we had to make the decision today to MOVE our Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) from our Cadet hall to our Plan B – the Port Colborne Arena (Vale Health & Wellness Centre).

Cadet Timings

New location: 550 Elizabeth St, Port Colborne, ON L3K 5W3
Timing: 0830hrs (8:30AM) arrival

CADETS PLEASE REMEMBER:

Bring your ENTIRE Uniform, the Staff will assess the conditions tomorrow and will decide on the dress of the day before the ACR starts.

Bring a full REFILLABLE water bottle.

Guest timing

New location: 550 Elizabeth St, Port Colborne, ON L3K 5W3
Timing: Arrive at 1345hrs (1:45PM) for a 1400hrs (2:00PM) start of the ACR

GUESTS PLEASE NOTE:

The rink does NOT have seating so every guest, bring your own lawn chair if you wish to sit during the ACR.

Additionally, the ice has been removed from rink, therefore there is NO air conditioning, so guests are advised to dress lightly and comfortable for the warm conditions, and like our cadets, we recommend that you bring a refillable water bottle.

Saturday Annual Ceremonial Review

All cadets and cadet families;

Please read the following 3 points:

1. Saturday Annual Practice Starts 0830

All cadets are to be at the cadet hall at 0830hrs Saturday morning:

  • In civilian clothing (dress for the weather)
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Health card
  • Uniform in a garment bag
  • Static displays completed, and
  • Have had breakfast

Important Notes

  • Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) is a mandatory parade for all cadets. Cadets must attend in order to complete their level, and go into the subsequent level next year. If you are unable to attend, you must request permission from the CO, in-writing: 87air@cadets.gc.ca
  • Arrive in civilian clothing for practice. You will be getting changed after lunch into the uniform of the day, and
  • Lunch will be provided

Work on uniforms this week, especially BOOTS!

We will not have time to work on uniforms on Saturday. The Annual Ceremonial Review is a formal parade, and dress must look exceptional.

2. Guest Information for Annual on May 25

It is recommended for spectators to arrive at 1330hrs to grab seating, ready for 1400hrs parade start. Please bring chairs as we do not have enough to accommodate all guests.

3. Additional Tickets Info for the Awards Nights on May 29

We will be handing out additional tickets for the Awards Night on a first-come-first-served basis this Wednesday. If you were not able to get tickets this past Wednesday reach out to our Admin Officer BEFORE Wednesday: 87air@cadets.gc.ca
